Huawei Pura70 series new phones quietly launch: sales of this series are expected to exceed 10 million units within the year

Like the previous Mate60, the highly anticipated Huawei Pura70 series of new phones quietly went on sale without any press conferences. On the morning of April 18th at 10 o’clock, Huawei announced on its official account, “Today, we have launched the ‘HUAWEI Pura 70 Series Pioneer Program’. The Pura 70 Ultra and Pura 70 Pro will be available for sale at 10:08 Pioneer. Welcome to experience!”. Subsequently, the first batch of Pura70 series products launched at 10:08 on the Huawei Mall have been sold out. In terms of offline stores, reporters from Caixin News Agency called several Huawei flagship stores in Shenzhen to learn that some stores have not yet received Pura70 in stock. However, several staff members told reporters that the first batch of goods will arrive in the afternoon. When asked about the booking situation, the person stated that they have received 100-200 reservations and cannot receive the goods on the same day. However, the largest Huawei flagship store in Shenzhen, the Wanda Plaza store, currently has prototypes and some models are in stock. The staff told the reporter that some models can be picked up on site, but it is uncertain whether they can be obtained due to the high number of people queuing up. In addition, the same series of Huawei Pura 70 Pro+and Huawei Pura 70 will be available for sale on April 22nd. The market has been paying attention to the Pura70 series for a long time, and there are constant rumors about its launch time. Previously, Caixin News Agency reporters visited Huawei’s offline stores multiple times, and the staff always said they were “waiting for official notification” about its opening time. However, many consumers still made blind bookings in advance and were preparing to purchase the first batch. Huawei did not provide a clear answer to the sales situation of this series of products before, and only announced on April 15th that it would upgrade the HUAWEI P series to the HUAWEI Pura series, gaining market attention. Regarding the meaning behind this move, Sui Qian, Senior Director of Wireless Smartphone Strategy Services at TechInsights, believes that Huawei may have two considerations: first, to give consumers a certain sense of freshness to distinguish between previous internal configurations, and second, to coordinate and cooperate with the Mate and Nova series to improve Xinhua’s product planning for the 5G era. Sui Qian also told reporters that in terms of sales, the P70 series may continue the strong performance of the Mate60 series. “If the pricing is reasonable and the production capacity issue is effectively solved, it is estimated that the sales of the entire P70 series will exceed 10 million units in 2024.” Earlier, Guo Minggui, Chief Analyst of Tianfeng International Securities, also stated that due to the upgrade of camera specifications and Kirin chips, the shipment volume of the Pura70 series will have a significant growth in 2024 (compared to 4-5 million units of the P60 series in 2023), with an expected year-on-year growth of 230% to 13-15 million units. From the perspective of the mobile phone market landscape, Huawei’s previous position in the mobile phone market was precarious, but with the hot sale of Mate60, Huawei has made a strong comeback. According to the latest data released by market research firm BCI, Huawei’s mobile phone sales in the first quarter of 2024 were 10.584 million units, a year-on-year increase of 81%, with a domestic market share of 15.5%, ranking second in the domestic smartphone market; According to Counterpoint’s data, in the first two weeks of 2024, Huawei once regained the top spot in smartphone sales in China. Sui Qian told reporters that it is expected that the global smartphone market will have a slight rebound this year, with sales expected to increase by about 3% year-on-year. “At present, the Chinese market seems to have stopped falling and stabilized. If Huawei can effectively solve its production capacity, it is expected to exceed its target of 50 million yuan for the whole year. This volume will help Huawei return to its position as a leading manufacturer in the Chinese market and stabilize its position as the eighth largest in the global market.”
