On March 26th, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology released an analysis report on the operation of the domestic mobile phone market for February 2024. The report shows that in February 2024, the domestic market shipped 14.257 million mobile phones, a year-on-year decrease of 32.9%. Among them, there were 12.532 million 5G mobile phones, a year-on-year decrease of 29.2%, accounting for 87.9% of the same period’s mobile phone shipments. From January to February 2024, the domestic mobile phone market shipments were 46.035 million units, a year-on-year increase of 14.6%, of which 38.697 million units were 5G phones, a year-on-year increase of 13.3%, accounting for 84.1% of the same period’s mobile phone shipments. In February 2024, 21 new mobile phone models were launched in China, a year-on-year decrease of 25.0%, including 17 5G phones, a year-on-year increase of 54.5%, accounting for 81.0% of the total number of new mobile phone models launched during the same period. From January to February 2024, 50 new mobile phone models were launched in China, a year-on-year increase of 22.0%, including 26 5G phones, a year-on-year increase of 44.4%, accounting for 52.0% of the total number of new mobile phone models launched during the same period. From the perspective of brand composition, in February 2024, the shipment volume of domestic brand mobile phones was 11.842 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 32.5%, accounting for 83.1% of the same period’s mobile phone shipment volume; 19 new models were launched, a year-on-year decrease of 26.9%, accounting for 90.5% of the total number of new mobile phone models launched during the same period. From January to February 2024, the shipment volume of domestic brand mobile phones reached 38.78 million units, a year-on-year increase of 38.7%, accounting for 82.7% of the same period’s mobile phone shipment volume; 45 new models were launched, a year-on-year increase of 18.4%, accounting for 90.0% of the total number of new mobile phone models launched during the same period. In terms of the development of domestic smartphones, in February 2024, the shipment volume of smartphones was 14.042 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 31.3%, accounting for 98.5% of the same period’s smartphone shipment volume; 19 new smartphone models were launched, a year-on-year decrease of 26.9%, accounting for 90.5% of the total number of new smartphone models launched during the same period. From January to February 2024, the shipment volume of smartphones was 43.555 million units, a year-on-year increase of 12.5%, accounting for 94.6% of the same period’s smartphone shipment volume; 36 new smartphone models were launched, a year-on-year decrease of 5.3%, accounting for 72.0% of the total number of new smartphone models launched during the same period.
