On March 30th, market research firm IDC recently released a quarterly tracking report on the Chinese PC monitor market, which stated that the total shipment volume of the Chinese PC monitor market in 2023 was 26.19 million units, a slight increase of 0.2% year-on-year. The shipment volume in the commercial market was 14.02 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 2.6%; The shipment volume in the consumer market was 12.17 million units, a year-on-year increase of 3.6%. IDC predicts that the shipment volume of PC monitors in China is expected to reach 27 million in 2024, a year-on-year increase of 3.3%. IDC believes that the development of China’s PC monitor market in 2023 has two significant characteristics: firstly, the market is deeply sinking. Local manufacturers have flexibly applied pricing strategies, successfully penetrated into the lower end market, met the demand of the low-end market, expanded the user base, and driven the display market to grow against the trend throughout the year. Due to the decline in the desktop market, PC manufacturers have seen a significant decline in their bundled desktop channel display shipments. With the advancement of technology and the increasing demand for display performance from consumers, the simple bundled sales model is no longer able to meet market demand. Secondly, the speed of product upgrade iterations is also accelerating. Consumers have a strong demand for high-performance and high-quality displays. In 2023, 100Hz office models and 180Hz esports models quickly occupied a market share. At the same time, the shipment volume of high-definition models such as QHD and UHD has also achieved significant growth. Among them, the shipment volume of QHD models increased by 35.2% year-on-year, while the shipment volume of UHD models also increased by 18.4% year-on-year. From the perspective of brand landscape changes, the top three manufacturers in the Chinese PC display market have undergone changes for the first time in the past decade. The market is going through a process of deep sinking, and local brands are gaining more market share by penetrating fourth and fifth tier cities with a deep understanding of the market and flexible marketing strategies.
